Catalent Clinical Supply Appoints New General Manager at Bathgate, Scotland Facility
Somerset, N.J. (PRWEB) October 17, 2017 -- Catalent Pharma Solutions, the leading pharmaceutical development and manufacturing company, has announced that Jim McLean has been appointed as the new General Manager at its over 141,000 square foot facility in Bathgate, West Lothian.
Primarily involved in the production, packaging, storage and global distribution of patient kits and other materials for clinical trials, the Bathgate facility is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, and has recently grown its workforce to almost 300 people.
Having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Paisley College of Technology, Jim started his career as a development chemist, before joining Beecham Pharmaceuticals in Irvine as a production chemist.
In July 2006, Jim joined Cardinal Health, which would ultimately become Catalent, as Operations Director, becoming Business Director of Encapsulation at the Bathgate facility in 2010, and Business Unit Director of Packaging in 2011. Earlier in 2017, he rejoined Catalent as Supply Chain Director at Bathgate.
Customers of Catalent’s Bathgate site include large, global pharmaceutical organisations, as well as smaller and virtual companies, some of which make up one of Europe’s largest life science clusters in Scotland.
The Bathgate site was originally purpose-built as a clinical packaging and logistics facility, and was officially opened by Quintiles in Sept 1997. It became a part of Cardinal Health’s business and was formed into Catalent Pharma Solutions in 2007.
