Catapult Academy to Open Two Locations Serving Volusia County's High School Dropout Population
Camden, New Jersey (PRWEB) July 15, 2015 -- Catapult Learning has announced the fall 2015 opening of Catapult Academy locations in Daytona Beach and Deltona, Florida. As a Volusia County Schools-selected provider for dropout recovery, Catapult Academy’s student centers will provide services to the county’s students who are at-risk or who have dropped out of high school, with the goal of improving graduation rates within the district.
Owned and operated by Catapult Learning, LLC, Catapult Academy serves students ages 16-21 who have struggled to complete their high school education and need an alternative solution to graduate. Catapult Academy, located in student-friendly community-based settings, provides a combination of small-group teacher-led instruction, blended learning, flexible scheduling, college admission guidance, and career coaching. Upon graduation from the tuition-free program, students receive a high school diploma from their home school district.
The program’s expansion into Volusia County extends Catapult Academy’s efforts to five counties throughout Florida. Andrew Post, who joined the company in June as Vice President & Superintendent of Schools for Catapult Academy, explained the value of the program to a school district and its students as well as the local community.
“Catapult Academy’s prevention and intervention program does not only play a vital role in the educational arena but also proves to be an invaluable economic and workforce development tool in the communities in which we operate,” said Post. “The net benefit of each new graduate, first and foremost to the student, and beyond that to the community, is an investment that pays dividends now and long into the future.”
The program currently serves over 1,100 students in five counties throughout Florida and Georgia. Working in partnership with the Volusia County Schools, Catapult Academy will handle all aspects of the new program, from managing local student recruitment efforts to providing academic and social support through graduation. In addition to Volusia County, Catapult Academy student centers are scheduled to open in Hernando County, Florida, as well as Los Angeles and San Diego Counties, California, in fall 2015.
