Catapult Learning Launches Leadership Institute Series for School Principals
Camden, New Jersey (PRWEB) March 11, 2015 -- Catapult Learning today announced the national launch of its Leadership Institutes, a series of six professional development workshops designed specifically for school leaders to enhance their capacity to manage change within schools and across districts. Through the Leadership Institute series, school leaders gain an understanding of how a relentless focus on school culture, communication, distributed leadership, and data analysis can affect student achievement.
“Whether a principal is beginning a career or simply starting a post at a new school, there are myriad challenges and obstacles to be faced, and few or no people to collaborate with or confide in,” explains Dr. Andrew Ordover, Catapult Learning’s Vice President of Program Development. “We’ve designed the Catapult Learning Leadership Institutes to combat that isolation and build community among a cohort of leader-learners.”
Institute topics focus on instructional leadership in which the principal is supported by a highly effective leadership team. Developed to provide a cohort of school leaders the time to work together and create a professional learning and support community within a school and district, each two-day institute focuses on a single critical topic, with instruction and interactive activities based on current research. Each institute also includes four weeks of follow-up work, including weekly online discussions, webinars hosted by an institute facilitator, and a book study on How to Help Your School Thrive Without Breaking the Bank by John G. Gabriel and Paul C. Farmer.
Ordover emphasizes the value of the month-long follow-up work. “As school leaders return to their schools to apply what they have learned in the institute, the workshop leader is there to support them, encourage them, lead discussions about challenges that participants have been facing, and help leaders lean on each other for ongoing support.”
The Leadership Institutes’ design allows for districts to purchase institutes individually or as a complete series of six. Each two-day institute can be scheduled on weekdays or weekends, enabling principals across a district to work together to form a collaborative leadership team.
