Catherine Porter Named Executive Director of The Center for Integrated Wellness
Bloomington-Normal, Illinois (PRWEB) January 20, 2016 -- As Executive Director, Porter will be responsible for fostering collaborations and synergies among three separate entities; Advocate BroMenn Health & Fitness Center, McLean County Orthopedics and Method Sports Performance, to create a unique environment of health, well-being and performance.
She will directly oversee daily operations of the Advocate BroMenn Health and Fitness Center, the medically-based, community-oriented wellness and fitness center. She will also directly oversee daily operations at METHOD Sports Performance, a scientifically based and medically integrated approach to sports performance training through programming and education.
The Center will be open to the public and community members will be invited to join starting in April of 2016. The Center is set to open in September of 2016.
The Center for Integrated Wellness will boast a unique blend of medical and wellness services and expertise aimed at supporting members and patients in reaching their optimal state of well-being. The center will consist of a medically-based fitness center, a sports performance institute, an imaging center, an orthopedic center of excellence, physician offices, and a community education area. The integration of these elements will serve the community as a full continuum of health and wellness promotion.
“We are looking forward to bringing medically-integrated health and wellness to the community of Bloomington-Normal,” said Jim Ellis, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of IWP. “Our model is focused not only on those who walk through the front doors of the center but also on improving the health and well-being of the community at-large through programs that serve the health promotion needs of businesses, schools and other organizations in the region.”
Catherine brings 25 years of experience in the health and wellness industry to her position at The Center for Integrated Wellness. She holds a degree in Exercise Physiology from Benedictine University and a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from Purdue University.
“I’m very excited to be involved in this Center and am looking forward to working hard during our pre-opening and the launch of the Center in September of 2016. We have a lot of work to do between now and then but I truly believe that we will be able to make a positive impact in the Bloomington-Normal community,” Porter commented.
“I believe that this Center will be a huge asset and will revolutionize the way we think about health and wellness.” She continued, “I’m eager to oversee the daily operations of the fitness center and METHOD. I’m also looking forward to creating collaboration among the partners of the Center. For example, METHOD uses a cutting-edge, scientific approach and, in collaboration with sports medicine physicians at McLean County Orthopedics, will be able to establish an “athletic home” for athletes of all ages, skill levels and experience.”
Catherine’s position will be crucial in the pre-opening and the launch of the Center. When asked about the selection process for the Executive Director, Mike Stoops, Operations Director for IWP, replied, “We are very excited to bring Catherine to the IWP team. She is the perfect choice for the Executive Director position for many reasons. Her expertise in the industry and being a resident of the Bloomington-Normal area will provide great insight and help this Center operate as effectively and efficiently as possible.”
She is actively involved in the community by supporting the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Habitat for Humanity of McLean County - Women Build through Leaders on Loan, and is a member of the 2015-2016 McLean County Chamber of Commerce Leadership class.
Catherine currently resides in Hudson, Illinois with her husband, Wade, and their three children.
