ccSpark! Makes Child’s Play out of Guidance Standards for Younger Students
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) January 23, 2014 -- Career Cruising now offers specialized career guidance tools for the youngest elementary students with ccSpark!. This engaging computer game introduces K-5 students to age-appropriate life skills and career guidance information at national curriculum standards. The launch of ccSpark! completes Career Cruising’s suite of integrated career guidance services from Kindergarten to College.
“Our goal for ccSpark! is simple,” says Matt McQuillen, Career Cruising CEO. “We want to help younger students make sense of the great wide world beyond the classroom. Our goal is to take away the mystery of adult life and work -- what parents or guardians do while kids are at school – and inspire them to think about possibilities.”
ccSpark! is built for flexibility, with many cross-curricular opportunities for the classroom. Students using ccSpark! meet school and district goals put forward by the National Career Development Guidelines and the American School Counselor Association. ccSpark! guides students basic career guidance concepts that meet current college and career readiness initiatives. ccSpark! also includes an Educator Guide with suggestions for classroom discussion and enhancement activities.
ccSpark! has two distinct modules for Kindergarten to Grade 2, and Grades 3 to 5. In both modules, students learn by exploring a whimsical cartoon community. Both modules also provide students with their own digital portfolios for saving their game progress and personal reflections. These portfolios are the first steps in building a student career plan that will continue through to graduation.
The newer ccSpark! module for K-2 students offers extra support for an age group entering the shared computer-lab environment for the first time. All instructions and storylines are automatically read aloud to students. The portfolio is more simplified and navigation tools are even easier to use.
"ccSpark! has been designed first and foremost to bring an engaging and fun career learning experience to students,” says Sarah Brown, Career Cruising Elementary Product Manager. “We’re confident that we’ve successfully accommodated the spectrum of developmental interests and capabilities kids have at this early grade range. The result is an exciting new program for kids and educators!"
Career Cruising provides secure career guidance programming to nearly 20,000 schools, career centers and libraries across North America. Founded in 1997, Career Cruising streamlines career-exploration and education-planning for students, counselors and educators with age-appropriate resources. The launch of ccSpark! is yet another exciting step in our ongoing mission to engage and inspire individuals of all ages to achieve their full potential in school, career and life.
