CD-adapco’s Steve MacDonald Honored for his Support and Achievements of Technology Initiatives on Long Island
MELVILLE, N.Y. (PRWEB) December 15, 2015 -- In recognition of raising his company from an idea in a Long Island attic to what is now the largest privately held CFD-focused provider of Computer Aided Engineering software, former CD-adapco President, CEO and co-founder, Steve MacDonald was recently posthumously honored with proclamations by United States Congressman Steve Israel and Nassau County (NY) Executive Ed Mangano. Their proclamations recognized MacDonald’s accomplishments and contributions to the Long Island technology community as he grew CD-adapco into a global leader in engineering simulation.
MacDonald received the proclamations during a celebration of life event on October 30 from Peter Goldsmith, President of LISTnet, an organization dedicated to promoting Long Island as a national center of excellence for software and technology solutions. Goldsmith said MacDonald will be remembered on Long Island as an engineering and technology pioneer who will have a long-lasting impact in the region. MacDonald established CD-adapco as a Long Island technology leader alongside revered companies such as Northrop Grumman, Computer Associates (now CA Technologies), DealerTrack and Henry Schein.
“Steve MacDonald laid the foundation, and created a blueprint, for software and tech-based companies on Long Island to become global success stories and provide a significant number of jobs in this region,” said Goldsmith. “We work with a lot of young companies, and to see what Steve did on Long Island and what he accomplished is the story we want to share with these up-and-coming companies to show them what is possible."
After 35 years of leadership at CD-adapco, Steve MacDonald passed away on September 2, 2015. He leaves a legacy of a healthy organization armed with talented and motivated individuals who are carrying forward his vision of “no-compromise” engineering simulation and are continuing his customer-first business model. Sharron L. MacDonald succeeds Steve MacDonald as CEO & Interim President of CD-adapco Worldwide.
Steve MacDonald’s impact on the Long Island tech community may receive further tangible recognition in the near future as he has been nominated for the Long Island Technology Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony is scheduled for March 2016.
