Celebrate Earth Day Every Day with 1% for the Planet
Burlington, Vt. (PRWEB) April 22, 2015 -- 1% for the Planet, one of the world’s largest environmental networks, is on a mission this Earth Month to inspire and remind people why the planet needs our support all year round. The network aims to raise $11,111 in April through a recent project, Going Out is Going In, created by network ambassadors James Joiner and Jeff Johnson with the help of Patagonia. The books are available through the organization’s Indiegogo page for a $25 donation.
Going Out is Going In debuted in March at SXSW in Austin. The project brings together an extraordinary group of top lifestyle, adventure, and outdoor photographers documenting natural beauty through their eyes. In addition, more than 40 bands, including Modest Mouse, Jack Johnson, and Blind Pilot, contributed a track for a “road trip playlist,” a one-of-a-kind collection that complements the scenes shown within the book.
For 1% for the Planet, Earth Day is just the building block on which it works to create change for this big blue planet. The 1% for the Planet network brings together more than 1,000 businesses and 3,000 nonprofits worldwide that choose to make every day Earth Day. Businesses in the network pledge to donate 1% of sales to nonprofit partners, working towards making the planet a better place.
“It is inspiring to see the action people take on Earth Day, but it should also serve as a reminder that we should keep the planet in mind always,” said Barbara Friedsam, senior director of marketing for 1% for the Planet. “Through our network, our members, partners, and ambassadors choose to make Earth Day every day, and that’s what we aim to do with our target of raising a modest $11,111 for the network this month. It’s the power of one. One action from one individual makes a positive difference, but combining these actions and working together towards these goals consistently is when the real change happens.”
