Bellevue, Washington (PRWEB) February 09, 2015 -- Welcome in the Lunar New Year and share the cultural heritage of our community at The Bellevue Collection, Feb. 21st from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Bellevue Square Center Court. Partnering with The Seattle Chinese Cultural and Arts Association, the Overseas Community Affairs Council - Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Taiwan Benevolent Association of America, the celebration will include traditional and contemporary cultural demonstrations of martial arts, music, dance, and visual and fine arts as well as dumpling sampling from the ever popular restaurant Din Tai Fung (limited time).
“This festival is a perfect celebration for all ages and one that brings to life the amazing culture, dance and music celebrated during Lunar New Year that enrich our community,” says Jennifer Leavitt, vice president of marketing for The Bellevue Collection. “This is truly a community festival designed to be enjoyed with activities for everyone that are fun and informative.”
One of the highlights is the Chinese Lion and Dragon Parade during the New Year Spectacular from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. This dramatic and colorful parade is an integral part of the Chinese culture with the traditional lion dance and dragon as a symbol of strength and good luck to the community. Other events include demonstrations and performances by martial arts groups, Chinese opera, and traditional dance and music, plus family friendly activities including flying lantern and year of the sheep hanging art DIYs, Chinese Calligraphy demonstrations and more located on the second floor near J.
