Celebrate Recovery Month at the 10th Annual Polo in the Palisades Event by Promises Treatment Centers® and The Promises Foundation
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 15, 2015 -- On Sept. 26, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Promises Treatment Centers® and The Promises Foundation will present the 10th annual Polo in the Palisades fundraiser at Will Rogers Historic State Park. The event will benefit Miriam’s House, a transitional recovery home for low-income women and their children.
This year, The Promises Foundation will honor the exceptional work of three heroes in the field of recovery:
• John Southworth, executive director at Southworth Associates, is being awarded The Promises Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award for more than three decades of outstanding service in the field of chemical dependency treatment. He is the program director for recovery programs benefiting the Idaho state board of medicine, dentistry and pharmacy and the Idaho state bar association. He consults for several treatment centers, facilitates interventions worldwide, and provides post-treatment case management services.
• Carey Caruso, a criminal lawyer, is receiving the Bob Timmins Award for Outstanding Service, for his involvement with various service associations and charitable causes. Mr. Caruso sits on the evaluation committee of the Lawyer’s Assistance Program, which provides help to attorneys with mental health and substance abuse challenges, and he works tirelessly to support the community, whether it’s by co-chairing a Christmas basket food drive or working pro bono for those who cannot afford his help.
• Timothy Pylko, MD, a partner at San Marino Psychiatric Associates, is accepting The Promises Foundation Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Recovery. An assistant clinical professor of psychiatry and bio behavioral science at the UCLA School of Medicine and an adjunct clinical professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the USC School of Medicine, Dr. Pylko has been awarded “Super Doctor” status by Los Angeles Magazine and recognized as a “Top Doc” by Pasadena Magazine for many years.
