CelebrityBusinessAnalyst.com Discusses ‘Jackass’ Spinoff Set for Release in October 2013
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 28, 2013 -- Following Hollywood Reporter’s July 17th article entitled “Johnny Knoxville Unveils Spinoff: ‘Jackass: Bad Grandpa,’ Sets October Release”, CelebrityBusinessAnalyst.com discussed the spin-off, touching on the success of the previous films as well as the television show. CBA measured this success using it to suggest an outcome for the upcoming movie spin-off.
Following an announcement from Paramount discussing a spin-off for the Paranormal Activity films, the production company announced its plans to release another spin-off three months earlier. This spin-off is Johnny Knoxville’s Jackass: Bad Grandpa. The film features Knoxville dressed as an elderly gentleman, performing stunts and displaying behavior wholly inappropriate for an old man, hoping to elicit responses from spectators. The film is set to release on October 25th of 2013.
Johnny Knoxville’s Jackass spinoff, entitled Bad Grandpa, plays up a character frequently featured in the Jackass franchise. However, Celebrity Business Analyst thinks that though the previous three films (and the television show acting as source material) have performed increasingly well at the box office, this new film is distinctly different from its predecessors in the following ways:
1. Knoxville is the primary source of the stunts, while previous Jackass films involved an ensemble cast;
2. The stunts are centered around a single character, versus a series of characters; and,
3. An integral member of the Jackass crew was lost after the release of Jackass 3-D to a car accident.
The first film in the franchise earned a total of $25 million at the box office, followed by $73 million for the second film, and $150 million for the third, bringing the overall earnings for the films to approximately $300 million. This does not take into account the earnings from the television show aired on MTV, available via cable and satellite tv packages. Celebrity Business Analyst’s chief writer concludes, “Though each film did progressively better at the box office, they followed the same basic formula: the Jackass ensemble performing stunts. This new venture does not follow that formula. This film may therefore not prove as financially successful as the previous three, due to the failure to interest fans seeking another typical Jackass film.”
Following an announcement detailing the release of a Jackass spinoff entitled Jackass: Bad Grandpa, CelebrityBusinessAnalyst.com discussed the possible outcome of this new enterprise and its decision to pigeonhole the film’s potential stunts into those performed by Knoxville’s grandfather character. Though this new venture for Johnny Knoxville bears the name and ring leader of the previous films, it does not boast the same ensemble attitude in casting and carrying out stunts, and may prove financially successful only through its association with the franchise.
