Cellcontrol Reveals First-Ever Distracted Driving Solution for Apple iOS

Cellcontrol now offers the first and only solution that defers text, email and inappropriate use of the iPhone when a vehicle is in motion. The announcement, made in conjunction with the beginning of National Distracted Driving Month, will further strengthen Cellcontrol’s mission to end distracted driving.

This revolutionary technology keeps drivers from being distracted by talk, text and email while simultaneously allowing the safe use of iPhone features, like Siri. The breadth of the solution provides a policy module that allows administrative users to limit all, or just some, of the driver’s iPhone features. When vehicle motion is detected, Cellcontrol instantly enforces the specified driver policy enabling or disabling specific iPhone features as managed by the policy administrator.
According to distraction.gov, there are approximately 1.4 million cell phone related car accidents each year and 200,000 of those involve texting and driving. Furthermore, 21 percent of distracted drivers 15-19 years old involved in fatal crashes were distracted by the use of a cell phone. The inherent dangers of distracted driving not only affect teenage drivers, but the commercial vehicle as well. Of the approximate 41,000 Americans killed each year in traffic accidents, nearly 5,000 die as a result of crashes involving large fleet trucks.
