Cenegenics Carolinas: 2013 Small Business Award Finalist, Leadership, Community-Mindedness Recognized by Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce Program
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Cenegenics Carolinas—one of global leader Cenegenics’ 22 age management medicine centers nationwide—is a 2013 Small Business Award finalist, recognized for its leadership, performance and community-mindedness by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce program, announced Cenegenics, the noted leading authority in the age-management medical specialty. Dr. Mickey Barber, CEO and Chief Medical Officer of Cenegenics Carolinas, opened the center’s doors seven years ago, when it became the first Cenegenics center established outside of the corporate Las Vegas facility. With passion, determination, medical expertise and five-star service, Barber and her dynamic team fueled the Charleston-based center’s double-digit growth, including an expansion to a Charlotte location in North Carolina.
The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce created the Small Business Awards, a new annual event, to offer small businesses much-deserved recognition for their community contributions and entrepreneurial success. Among other criteria, business nominees must fall in one of two tiers (1-25 full-time employees or 26-100 full-time employees), have been in business for at least three years, have a demonstrated commitment to good business practices and maintain good employee relations. Cenegenics Carolinas, a tier one nominee, excels in all levels.
“Cenegenics Carolinas is passionate about bettering the lives of those in our community. We’ve been active in supporting charitable organizations—such as Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure, where we earned first place for the amount of money we raised, and the American Heart Association—and we broadcast at least one webinar every month on a variety of healthy aging topics to keep our community better informed. Of course, our goal through all of our team and social media efforts is to offer Charleston a new definition of healthcare, one focused on prevention, not disease,” Barber said.
Excellence clearly stands at the forefront of Barber’s mission at Cenegenics Carolinas, from her medical practice to her team, community and personal life. A fitness-sports enthusiast, Barber is a board-certified anesthesiologist and a graduate of The Medical University of South Carolina. She later completed a residency at Tulane University and a fellowship at Harvard.
In 2012, Barber became the first woman to be presented the prestigious Alan P. Mintz, MD Award for Clinical Excellence in Age Management Medicine—an honor presented annually to a physician demonstrating high standards of science, patient care, entrepreneurship and personal health lifestyle. Actively engaged at Cenegenics’ corporate level as well, Barber serves as physician adviser for their Cenegenics Living Online program, medical director for Cenegenics Pharmacy Newsletter and medical director for the Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation’s medical library.
“Cenegenics Carolinas’ growth and success have been a team effort that includes my fellow colleagues Dr. Christopher K. Nagy and Dr Randi Popp, our staff at both locations and corporate support. Our team is all about moving forward and taking on new challenges. We want to continue to grow our Charleston center and are working to double our patient base in Charlotte by the end of the year. Personally, I will be working more with Cenegenics Corporate to help launch a women’s program next year and will expand my involvement with the Charleston community even further, combining efforts with my alma mater and reaching out to the American Heart Association,” Barber said.
