Center for Autism and Related Disorders Donates Thousands of Treatment Hours to Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. (PRWEB) January 08, 2018 -- Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) announced today that it is continuing its long tradition of donating treatment hours to families affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD). While CARD has provided free treatment every year since it was founded in 1990, 2017 marked a record year in which over 12,000 hours of treatment were provided at no cost to families.
CARD is a premier leader in the field of autism treatment and specializes in using the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to treat individuals of all ages diagnosed with ASD. ABA is the only scientifically validated treatment for ASD and is most effective when delivered early and at a high level of intensity. ABA is unique in the number of hours of treatment that are often required to ensure optimal outcomes, and the cost of ABA often puts treatment out of reach for families without insurance.
“We have come a long way in the effort to secure insurance coverage for autism treatment, but we continue to encounter families who have no health insurance or whose insurance doesn’t include mental health benefits,” explained Doreen Granpeesheh, Ph.D., BCBA-D, founder and CEO of CARD. “From the beginning, I have been committed to an inclusive treatment model that provides access to treatment for families across all demographics, and I remain more committed than ever to ensuring that treatment is accessible and affordable to all who need it.”
