Center of Reproductive Medicine Joins RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association To Observe National Infertility Awareness Week
Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- National Infertility Awareness Week is recognized April 20-26 and marks the 25th Anniversary in joining millions of men and women fighting the disease of infertility and promoting greater awareness about infertility.
Resolve: The National Infertility Association began the movement in 1989, to raise awareness about infertility and encourage the public to understand their reproductive health. This is especially important today, as one in eight couples is diagnosed with infertility.
This observance week focuses on ensuring that people trying to conceive know the guidelines for seeing a specialist, enhancing public understanding that infertility is a disease that needs and deserves attention, and educating legislators about the disease of infertility and how it impacts people in their state.
"This year's theme is 'Resolve to know,' and that has always been our goal for all of our patients. We always encourage patient education and nothing is more important to us than to help men and women get the answers and support they need to make important decisions in treatment and care," said Vicki Schnell, Medical Director at Center of Reproductive Medicine (CORM).
During National Infertility Awareness Week, (CORM) will show their support to raise awareness with the following activities at their main office in Clear Lake: Monday-complimentary massages, Tuesday-Book Giveaway of “Love and Infertility”, Wednesday-Fruit and Fertility Facts and Thursday-Support Group meeting.
Five Facts About Infertility:
• A woman under the age of 35, who has been trying to conceive for a year, needs to seek a fertility specialist. Women over the age of 35 should seek a specialist after trying for six months. (http://www.asrm.org)
• Infertility affects 7.3 million people in the U.S. This figure represents 12% of women of childbearing age, or 1 in 8 couples. (2002 National Survey of Family Growth) *
• Approximately one-third of infertility is attributed to the female partner, one-third attributed to the male partner and one-third is caused by a combination of problems in both partners, or is unexplained. (http://www.asrm.org) *
