Center Stage Gallery Presents The Winter Scenes of Disney Legend Eyvind Earle
Burbank, CA (PRWEB) January 21, 2016 -- Center Stage Gallery located in the animation capital of the world, Burbank CA, is proud to celebrate 2016 as the year that represents the 100th year birthday of the master painter and Disney Legend, Eyvind Earle. The exhibition at Center Stage Gallery in Burbank will be exclusively featuring the Winter Scenes and Christmas Card collection curated by Eyvind Earle Publishing is part of the celebration. Over 800 designs were created during the 57 year period between 1938 and 1995. Many early designs are lost, but by far the majority are included in the amazing Christmas Card book and will also be on display in this exhibit.
“I never planned to be involved with Christmas card designing. It simply happened as a means of survival. Somehow, the designs pour out of me with almost no effort at all. I was never critical of my own work, I simply turn out one or two or even more designs in one day. For one thing, to me every day is Christmas. Every creation is divine. Cover the ugliest run down shack with snow, and it becomes a magic vision of purity. Every mother with her child is a Madonna.” - Eyvind Earle
In 1951, Earle joined Walt Disney studios as an assistant background painter. Earle intrigued Disney in 1953 when he created the look of “Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom” an animated short that won an Academy Award and a Cannes Film Festival Award. Disney kept the artist busy for the rest of decade, painting the settings for such stories as “Peter Pan”, “For Whom the Bulls Toil”, “Working for Peanuts”, “Pigs is Pigs”, “Paul Bunyan” and “Lady and the Tramp”.
Earle was responsible for the styling, background and colors for the highly acclaimed movie “Sleeping Beauty” and gave the movie its magical, medieval look. He also painted the dioramas for Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland in Anaheim, California and in 2015 was awarded the status of being a “Disney Legend” sharing that title with other great talents such as Johnny Depp, George Lucas, Susan Luci, Andreas Deja, Danny Elfman, George Bodenheimer, Julie Reihm Casaletto, Carson Van Osten and Floyd Norman.
Earle’s career has encompassed many different fields. In addition to book illustrating, the artist had also designed a number of covers for magazine publications and had produced and created several animated commercials and specials for television.
“I do not try to copy an oil painting but rather I create a new work of art using the silk screening process.” - Eyvind Earle
The exclusive exhibition includes never before seen limited edition serigraphs of the winter scenes the original paintings and Christmas Card designs created by Eyvind Earle from 1939. Serigraphs, books and cards are on sale with a special discounted show price just for this exhibit.
