Cessna Aircraft Company Purchases Sixth DMS 5 Axis CNC Router with Unique Installion
Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) July 17, 2013 -- On May 31st, Cessna Aircraft Company completed the custom installation of their 5 axis overhead moving gantry sidewall router, model # 5O6-12-35-60NCOLRx, marking this as their sixth large format DMS machining center purchase.
The team of engineers at Diversified Machine Systems specializes in accommodating custom requests, but this high-speed machining center was especially unique because it was designed to integrate with Cessna’s existing 10’ x 35’ universal fixture table. The DMS CNC router was mounted over the table, which was installed in a large pit that has been reinforced for greater tolerance and improved accuracy.
This table is a key component of Cessna’s plan to significantly increase their production capabilities. By integrating this universal fixture table with their custom machining center, their operators can perform multiple tasks without having to stop and change the tooling set-up. This time savings that can be achieved with this type of technology are substantial, and result in lower job costs and improved throughput.
"Cessna purchased this specific DMS machining center for aerospace quality timing and drilling composites, stretch-formed aluminum and general medium duty aluminum machining," explains Diversified Machine Systems Distributor, Frank Cabanski.
