WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) May 12, 2016 -- CrowdFund Intermediary Regulatory Advocates (CFIRA), Crowdfund Capital Advisors (CCA) and the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) have announced the list of fintech companies selected to demo at the upcoming Crowdfunding Technology Showcase and Celebration in Washington, D.C.
The event, to be held on Monday, May 16, at 3p.m. in the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, will mark the implementation of Title III of the Jumpstart our Business Startups (JOBS) Act, which will see private investment markets opened up to all income levels of investors, bringing great benefits to small businesses and retail investors. The purpose of the event is to highlight examples of the innovative technology and service providers that will create better access to capital for small businesses and startups and provide prudent investor protections.
“The crowdfunding provisions of the JOBS Act will have an enormously positive impact on the small business and investment communities, but the effective date is also an opportunity to reflect on the success that has already taken place,” said Douglas S. Ellenoff, an event supporter, panel participant and partner at Ellenoff, Grossman & Schole LLP.
“Approximately $1 billion of online venture and real estate financings have already been processed under the existing regulations, primarily under 506(b) and 506(c). The continued success of online crowdfunding will in part depend on the ability for stakeholders to be properly educated about the new regulatory framework and for all players to act in compliance with it,” said Ellenoff.
Event supporter Oscar A. Jofre, Jr., president and CEO of KoreConX, a free, all-in-one solution that helps companies navigate the process of raising equity capital, said the event is an opportunity to welcome the advent of a more transparent business environment for crowdfunding companies.
“The equity crowdfunding industry has seen steady growth in recent years, as has KoreConX. What I think will have the largest impact is the impending launch of Title III. Crowd diligence, as Jason Best, co-founder of Crowdfund Capital Advisors, put it, is about to begin, and transparency is essential for that. KoreConX makes it easy,” said Jofre.
The companies and organizations, representing the five sectors of the crowdfunding ecosystem that will showcase at the D.C. Demo Day portion of the event are:
Crowdfunding Platform and Secondary Markets
• North Capital
Trust and Transparency Tools
Data and Analytics Services
Money Transfer/Blockchain Solutions
White Space Fintech Innovation
• Venture Hive
• Weekend Angel
In addition to the demonstrations, attendees will hear from an expert panel discussing how technology can be used to mitigate risk in the new capital markets and network with stakeholders including from the relevant regulatory bodies, White House and U.S. Congress.
Media practitioners are warmly invited to attend. For more information or to arrange an interview ahead of or during the event, please contact Marilyn(at)leverage-pr(dot)com.
