CHA Foundation Partners With Michaels Stores and The Rit Studio to Host Kids Crafting Day at Bradley Childrens Hospital
Elmwood Park, New Jersey (PRWEB) March 19, 2015 -- In efforts to promote creativity and enrich children’s lives through creative expression, CRE8TIME, a consumer initiative started by the Craft & Hobby Association Foundation, has partnered with leading arts and crafts specialty retailer Michaels and The Rit Studio to host “KIDS CRAFTING DAY” on April 2, 2015, from 9 a.m.– 4 p.m. EDT at the Bradley Children’s Hospital in East Providence, Rhode Island.
Bradley Hospital, licensed by the Department of Children, Youth and Families, provides a range of family-focused, high-quality mental health care to infants, children, adolescents and young adults with emotional disorders and/or developmental disabilities. CRE8TIME is a movement to raise awareness for the need to devote more time for creative expression, and provide a forum for individuals to share their experiences – the joys, lessons and results – with the creative community at large.
"We are very excited to host and collaborate with the Craft & Hobby Association here at Bradley Hospital on April 2,” said Bradley Hospital Healing Arts Director Maegan Gubata, M.A, LMHC, ATR. “The therapeutic benefits of crafting and art making are invaluable to our patients who sometimes feel words are just not enough. Using the arts as a modality for communication is without a doubt a key asset to our patients who are challenged by mental health issues. In addition, exposing our patients to unique art materials gives them a new experience, ability to learn new techniques, and a sense of accomplishment our kids can take with them when they leave the hospital. We look forward to our crafting day with the CHA and honoring national craft month."
During the KIDS CRAFTING DAY event, children attending Bradley Hospital’s various inpatient and partial programs will participate in a day filled with creative projects consisting of mixed media crafting activities with products supplied by Michaels and The Rit Studio. The projects will be led by craft specialists from The Rit Studio as well as staff from the CHA and Andrea Atwater, representing Craft Attitude.
“CRE8TIME’s partnership with Bradley Hospital is a great way to get children engaged in the therapeutic benefits that crafting brings,” said CHA President and CEO Andrej Suskavcevic. “We are pleased to join forces with Michaels and The Rit Studio to bring this special day of crafting to the youth of Rhode Island and celebrate creativity.”
