Chagrin Falls, Ohio (PRWEB) May 08, 2016 -- The Chagrin Documentary Film Festival is extremely pleased to announce that, for the first time in its history, significant cash prizes will be given to CDFF award-winning documentary filmmakers as part of the 2016 Festival. An undisclosed donor will underwrite $15,000 in ten award categories. The winners will be announced at the Festival Awards ceremony on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
“The guiding principal of the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival has been celebrating the unique passion of the documentary filmmaker. We are extremely grateful that we are now able to present meaningful cash prizes to the filmmakers who have inspired us,” said Mary Ann Ponce, Festival Director.
Historically, the highest Festival award has been the David Ponce Best of the Fest award. This will now include a $5,000 prize.
True to its mission to support and empower filmmakers to tell their stories, the Festival’s Emerging Filmmaker Award winner will be presented with a $2,500 prize.
A $1,000 prize will be given as part of the award for these additional categories: Best Feature, Best Student, Social Awareness, Local Documentary, Human Spirit Award, Best Cinematography, and Short Documentary.
The Audience Choice award winner will receive $500.
