Fort Lauderdale, Florida (PRWEB) June 04, 2014 -- Broward County officials and members of its project team, broke ground on May 15, 2014, to officially start construction of its new Biogas facilities to process Fat, Oils and Grease (FOG) waste collected from local sources such as restaurants. Reportedly, the FOG will be converted into biogas to fuel a cogeneration facility thereby reducing the site’s overall power consumption and benefiting the environment. Champion Controls is a major participant in the construction work, supplying the entire instrumentation and controls for the facility. Champion’s work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
Representing Champion Controls at the event was company President/CEO, Chantal Wedderburn. “We are thankful for the opportunity to work on this innovative project, and particularly for performing the work at this, our local wastewater plant, which we understand is one of the largest in Florida,” said Mrs. Wedderburn, “Our portion of the project alone is over $1.5 million and it demonstrates the high level of confidence that municipalities have in our ability to get the job done on large plant projects like this.”
