Chandini Portteus Named New President and CEO for LIVESTRONG
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) March 24, 2015 -- The Board of Directors of the LIVESTRONG Foundation announced today that it has selected Chandini Portteus as the Foundation’s next president and chief executive officer, effective April 6, 2015. Portteus, 36, joins LIVESTRONG after nearly 10 years with Susan G. Komen, where she served most recently as Chief Mission Officer responsible for strategy and programming around research, community health, public policy and global programs.
“Chandini’s experience, energy and commitment to the cancer community makes her perfectly suited to lead the next stage of LIVESTRONG’s evolution. Her work forging alliances with both corporate and academic partners will be extremely valuable as we launch the LIVESTRONG Cancer Institutes at the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin,” said Jeff Garvey, chairman of the LIVESTRONG Foundation’s board of directors. “We are thrilled to welcome Chandini to the LIVESTRONG family.”

While at Susan G. Komen, Portteus was instrumental in creating focused initiatives working across more than 30 countries. Her global programming work included fundraising with major donors and building partnerships with Fortune 100 companies. In addition, she was the architect and relationship manager for the scientific advisory bodies of Susan G. Komen, which included the Scientific Advisory Board and the Komen Scholars.
Portteus received her liberal arts degree from Austin College in Psychology and Biology, with a master's from the University of Texas Houston School of Public Health. Previously, she worked in sales for Knoll Pharmaceutical, as well as conducting clinical research at UT Southwestern Medical School, Children’s Medical Center, UT Houston School of Public Health and Parkland Hospital. Portteus is married to Andrew Portteus, a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist, and together they are the parents of four children. The family will be relocating to Austin in the coming weeks.
