Change.org Hires Former Twitter Exec As New VP of Sales
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 12, 2013 -- Change.org, the world’s largest petition platform, has hired Amanda Levy as its new vice president of sales. Levy will lead the company’s global sales expansion efforts, building out its Sponsored Campaigns and Promoted Petitions offerings and exploring additional revenue streams.
Levy founded and directed Twitter’s mid-market U.S. sales team, building the company’s revenue stream and monetization strategy and managing more than 100 people on both the account executive and account management teams. Before Twitter, Levy was the first salesperson and tenth employee at Yelp, where she built the inside sales organization to 250 people, managed 150 individuals, and was responsible for 70% of company revenue in 2009 and 2010.

This is the company’s second high-profile executive hired this year, with former Yahoo! VP and Google executive Jennifer Dulski joining as Change.org’s president and COO in January. Since May, Change.org has announced a $15 million investment round led by philanthropic firm Omidyar Network and launched its new Promoted Petitions revenue stream.
“Amanda’s experience building world-class sales teams will help us achieve the financial scale necessary to serve and empower hundreds of millions of users the world over,” said Ben Rattray, Change.org’s founder and CEO. “We couldn’t be more excited to have her on board.”
Levy spent the past year on sabbatical, traveling to South Africa, India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia, biking 375 miles through Oregon, and participating in a 200-hour yoga teacher training program. She is a former board member of Headstand, a nonprofit bringing stress reduction techniques and yoga to youth in economically-disadvantaged communities.
Levy will work from Change.org’s San Francisco headquarters. The world’s largest petition platform, Change.org has climbed from 10 million users in mid-2012 to more than 40 million users last month and has 180 staff members in 18 countries.
