Charles ‘Chuck’ Prentiss is Named Professional of the Year by the International Association of Who’s Who
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (PRWEB) December 18, 2017 -- Chuck Prentiss is a seasoned entertainer, published writer and a nationally recognized authority on Broadway, Hollywood and the American Musical Theater. He has also achieved an impressive array of academic and professional success during his wide-ranging career.
As an Entertainer, Chuck is a familiar face across major television networks, thanks to his popular Sunday night TV show, “Chuck Prentiss’ Jewish Broadway”, which is aired on JLTV (Jewish Life Television), and is carried by numerous other TV networks nationwide. The show was fueled by Chuck’s lifelong passion for Broadway and, following the former New Yorker’s move to South Florida in 2002, it has grown into the popular national television series it is today.
Despite his current success as an entertainer and raconteur, the former theatrical lawyer’s early triumphs were of a more academic nature. Following his graduation from Stuyvesant High School in New York, he attended Queens College in Queens, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Government, Magna Cum Laude. His academic studies culminated with a well-deserved Doctor of Jurisprudence from Yale Law School, where he spent three years serving as an Editor of the Yale Law Journal.
Following a career as a theatrical attorney for seven years, Chuck decided to exercise his entrepreneurial skills. He left the legal profession to start his own life insurance brokerage firm, which he ran very successfully with several partners for over 30 years. Chuck is also a published writer, having written for a number of prestigious publications, including Monocle, a Leisurely Quarterly of Political Humor, whose founder and editor, Victor Navasky, later served for many years as Editor and Publisher of The Nation magazine.
Maintaining his passion for live performance, both on and off-screen, Chuck is a long-time member of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs; presents many live shows at a range of venues across South Florida, including movie theaters, schools, charities, Hadassahs and retirement communities; and is the first ever lead singer of the Broward County Mummers Costume Orchestra.
Chuck spent seven years with a law firm that represented such entertainment luminaries as Richard Rodgers, Alan Jay Lerner, Victor Borge, Robert Goulet, Cy Feuer and Ernest Martin. For many years, Chuck’s Significant Other was Sylvia Schwartz, who was an Executive, first with the David Merrick Organization, and later with the William Morris Talent Agency.
As a result of Sylvia Schwartz’s connections, and Chuck’s own professional associations, Chuck spent his time hob-knobbing with such entertainment personalities as Judy Garland, Judy Holliday, Bette Midler, Rodney Dangerfield, Ron Carey, Stiller and Meara, Charles Aznavour, Laura Nyro, Jean Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, Julie Styne, Howard Dietz, Ruth Gordon, Garson Kanin, Liza Minnelli, Kay Swift, Roger Price, Woody Allen, Mel Brooks, Roy Cohn, Jan Wallman, Barbra Streisand, Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Danny Kaye, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Molly Picon, Menasha Skulnik, Fyvush Finkel, Claire Barry, Jerry Herman, Lee Roy Reams, Sidney Myer and Seth Rudetsky — to name but a few.
Chuck’s younger friends and associates have created a new phrase to describe him — “Chuck’s School” — which, when pronounced properly, actually says: “Chuck’s Cool!”
