Charter Expansion Underway For School Lunch Fairy
West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) April 25, 2017 -- School Lunch Fairy is a fundraising charity with the aim of providing decent school lunches to students of all ages, from kindergarten to high school. To accomplish this goal, School Lunch Fairy raises money through a crowdfunding website and helps pay for unpaid school lunch balances in South Florida public schools. This foundation was established by Christian Cordon-Cano, a junior at The King’s Academy in West Palm Beach, and is excited to expand to a new charter school with Bernardo Hasbach.
Christian and Bernardo believe that no child should go hungry. They know that not every family can pay for their children's school lunch balance. According to the World Hunger Education Service, 3 million households in 2015 were unable to provide adequate, nutritious food for their children. Food insecurity like this is still an issue today.
This is where School Lunch Fairy steps in. It raises money and sends it to the school so that more students can get a good lunch. Proper nutrition is important for growing kids, and hungry students suffer academically. By providing donations to the school districts, School Lunch Fairy is able to provide students with decent lunches even if they have an unpaid balance.
As an Advanced Placement student at A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Bernardo Hasbach is excited to launch his charter of the School Lunch Fairy. Bernardo is dedicated to his community with his involvement in the Arts Piano Department, being a math tutor, and participating as a varsity member of the Palm Beach Crew Rowing Club. A few of Bernardo’s rowing accolades include 1st place in the Men’s Open 4x Head of the Giblet Regatta 2016, 1st place in the Mixed Open 4x Stetson Regatta Hatter Fall Rowing 2016, and 11th in the State of Florida for the Men’s Open 2x FSRA Sculling Championships 2017.
As founder of the School Lunch Fairy, Christian Cordon-Cano says, “We are inviting kids across the nation to join our cause and start their own local chapter of School Lunch Fairy so that we may continue helping more children.”
By starting a charter with School Lunch Fairy, they will take care of all the back office administrative tasks like payment processing and disbursing funds to school districts so volunteers can focus on raising funds to help as many students as possible.
