Cheesemaker Nuestro Queso Commits to Using Only Hormone-Free Milk
Kent, Illinois (PRWEB) August 27, 2015 -- Nuestro Queso, the Rosemont, IL-based, award-winning manufacturer of fine Hispanic specialty cheeses, has announced their commitment to use milk that is completely free of the growth hormone Recombinant Bovine Somatotropin (rBST) in the making of their cheeses, creams and drinkable yogurts. The local cheese brand is now working exclusively with dairy farmers that do not use the growth hormone in their milk, which is commonly injected into cows to stimulate milk production.
“Our decision to use pure, hormone-free milk in our products reinforces our commitment to provide our customers with only the highest quality and freshest cheeses, creams and yogurts,” says Mark Braun, CEO of Nuestro Queso.
Braun said the decision was made after Nuestro Queso assessed feedback from their loyal Hispanic customers who identified hormone-free milk as one of the biggest preferences among their dairy product selections. Also, studies have found that cows that receive Recombinant Bovine Somatotropin are more prone to infection, which leads to the use of antibiotics. Although the FDA has found no risks associated with Recombinant Bovine Somatotropin, many customers are concerned that hormone could affect the quality of the cow’s milk and possibly cause long-term health consequences to humans. Many concerned dairy farms, including the ones that now supply Nuestro Queso with milk, have therefore begun eliminating the use of the growth hormone in their practices in an effort to produce a purer, more natural product.
Nuestro Queso has already begun production of their products with the hormone-free milk and is looking forward to a warm reception of their commitment from their loyal customers.
