ChemicoMays CEO Leon Richardson Receives Third Consecutive MMSDC Diamond Award

Southfield, Mich. (PRWEB) October 13, 2014 -- Complementing the company’s recent celebration of its 25th anniversary, ChemicoMays (Chemico) today announced that its president and CEO, Leon Richardson, has been awarded the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council’s (MMSDC) Diamond Award for the third consecutive year. Given annually to only one minority business owner, the award was presented at the 31st Annual Awards Program: Celebrating the Stars of Supplier Diversity, held on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the Max Fisher Music Center in Detroit.

Richardson, a veteran, as well as an entrepreneur, worked in a number of automotive supply positions after leaving military service. Focusing on the chemistry that supports the manufacturing process, he was a top salesman at a leading chemical company before launching Chemico in 1989. Over 25 years, Richardson has taken the company from a start-up with two employees, to a multi-national corporation with over 250 employees and more than $66 million in sales. Initially focused on the automotive industry, the company has now expanded its portfolio to include heavy manufacturing, aerospace, biotechnology, and academia, supporting 60 client facilities across the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

Among those who attended, 21 individuals and companies, spanning various industries, were awarded. Malcolm Maddox, Channel 7 weekend anchor, emceed the event, which also included special remarks from General Motor’s Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, Grace Lieblein.
