Cherokee Nation Technology Solutions Providing SBA Workshops in Anchorage, Alaska
Tulsa, Okla. (PRWEB) April 16, 2015 -- Cherokee Nation Technology Solutions (CNTS) is continuing its partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration to host free, onsite training sessions and web-based seminars for Native corporations interested in joining the 8(a) program. The workshops provide valuable insight for tribally owned businesses and Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs).
“This partnership emphasizes our commitment to helping tribally owned businesses succeed,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker. “The SBA program has provided numerous opportunities for our companies to grow and develop, and we hope that by sharing our knowledge and expertise we can see more Native American-owned businesses do the same.”
Working with the SBA’s Office of Native American Affairs, CNTS created curriculum focused on business development and the unique rules and considerations of the 8(a) program for tribally owned firms and ANCs. The sessions address challenges faced by Native businesses and offer operational and leadership strategies to build capacity, foster growth and expansion, and ensure sustainability. CNTS also provides year-round technical assistance to participating organizations.

Registration is currently available for two onsite classes in April.
April 28: Introduction to the 8(a) Business Development Program and Application Overview
This workshop is focused on new businesses who are learning about the 8(a) program or in those first 2-3 years of business and considering the program. We discuss establishing a firm business infrastructure focused on establishing a “potential for success” in 8(a).
April 29: 8(a) Business Development Tools and Resources
This workshop is relevant to all businesses, but has an 8(a) focus on using the program as a discriminator for establishing contracting and teaming relationships.
Both courses are instructor-led and will be held at the Alaska State Library in the Williwaw Room at 344 West 3rd Ave., Suite 125.
