Chesapeake Regional Tech Council Announces TechAwards 2014 Finalists Honoring the Region’s Top Technology Companies and Leaders

Annapolis, MD (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- The Chesapeake Regional Tech Council (CRTC) today announced the finalists for the upcoming 9th annual TechAwards 2014: Get in the Game, honoring the region's rising tech companies, outstanding innovators and all-around top "geeks". The CRTC received more than 60 submissions for the six nominated award categories from a variety of accomplished technology businesses and individuals throughout the Annapolis-Washington-Baltimore region. A thirteen-member selection committee examined the nominations and voted on the top contenders. Winners will be announced at the TechAwards event on the evening of March 26, 2014 at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport Hotel.

“This year’s Get in the Game theme has triggered an array of incredible TechAward nominees,” said CRTC selection committee chair, Regina Brantley of i4DM. “These finalists are yet another show of the incredible level of talent and innovative thinkers that the Annapolis-Washington-Baltimore tech community has to offer.”

In addition to the nominated categories Legend’s Circle Honorees, one individual and one company, will be will be awarded at the event.

• The Legend's Circle Company Award will be given to Vocus, a leading cloud-based marketing and public relations software company headquartered in Beltsville, Maryland; and
• The Legend's Circle Individual Award will honor Freeman A. Hrabowski, III, President of UMBC

According to CRTC Board Member Todd Marks, CEO of 2013 Tech Company of the Year Honoree Mindgrub and this years’ Title sponsor, “Freeman Hrabowski has been such an influence in STEM education, serving as the President of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) since 1992, that he has been recognized by TIME Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. Under his leadership, UMBC has been named the U.S. News & World Report’s #1 Up and Coming national university 5 years in a row. But the real accolade that makes him stand out is that everyone you talk to who knows Freeman describes him the same way: as magnanimous.”

The Tech Company of the Year Award is awarded to an enterprise that has proven its dedication, vision and ability to work with a sustained, strategic business plan and to steadily grow into a prominent player in the Annapolis-Washington-Baltimore tech industry. Finalists include:

7Delta, Inc. – Columbia, MD
Established in 2005, 7Delta, Inc., a verified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB), is a leading provider of information technology services to the Civilian and Defense sectors of the U.S. Government.

IntelliGenesis LLC - Columbia, MD
IntelliGenesis LLC is a woman and veteran-owned company established in 2007. The Woman in Tech Award honors an individual who best exemplifies the outstanding contributions made by women in advancing technology in industry, business and society. Finalists include:

Jan Baum, Executive Director, 3D Maryland- Columbia, MD

The Future Innovator Award promotes excellence in technology advancement by a regional high school student. The award fosters new thinking in the understanding of technology and its place in the future careers of area students. This award is open to students in grades 9-12. The student must be either from the Annapolis, Washington, Baltimore triangle and/or currently studying in the Annapolis, Washington, Baltimore area. This year for the first time, the winner will receive the Steven W. Oxman STEM Scholarship Award of $1000 in honor of CRTC Founder Steve Oxman. Finalists Include:

Event Details:
The theme for the 9th annual program is Get in the Game. Winners will be announced at the event to be held March 26, 2014 from 5:30 to 9:00 pm at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport.

Tickets:
Tickets are now on sale and will be $120 for CRTC members and $140 for non-members until March 24th. Tickets purchased at the door will be $150 as available. Tables of 10 are available for $950. Registration, sponsorship information and additional details are available at:
