Chestnut Global Partners Completes First Global Study of DuPont Employee Assistance Program Workplace Outcomes
Bloomington, IL (PRWEB) April 23, 2015 -- The Commercial Science Division of Chestnut Global Partners (CGP), a provider of culturally-aware employee assistance and wellness programs to companies worldwide, today announced the results of a year-long study of the employee assistance programs (EAP) that DuPont provides to its workplace locations in Latin America, Asia, Europe and the U.S. DuPont used CGP's Workplace Outcome Suite (WOS), a short, psychometrically tested and validated instrument specifically designed for quick and reliable assessment of EAP effectiveness. The WOS contains five items that lie at the heart of understanding the positive effects of EAP and Health/Wellness Coaching in the workplace: absenteeism, presenteeism, work engagement, life satisfaction and workplace distress. DuPont uses several different vendors across the globe and each vendor had the WOS translated into the appropriate languages.
The DuPont study examined if and to what degree EAP interventions improved their employees' workplace functioning. The survey was administered to 1,140 DuPont employees from locations in four global regions before seeking EAP counsel, and 90 days after. Results from the WOS indicated a post-test 82 percent improvement in absenteeism, a 29 percent improvement in presenteeism, a 16 percent improvement in engagement, a 27 percent improvement in life satisfaction and a 21 percent decrease in workplace distress.
"Too few organizations hold their EAPs accountable as many are unaware that tools such as the WOS exist to measure their efficacy, which is to say their true value," said Matt Mollenhauer, VP of Operations for CGP. "The DuPont global study is the first of its kind, providing the company with reliable outcomes data in all the regions they do business, which is the best way to gauge how the programs are performing in each country. With DuPont taking the lead, we're hopeful that other multinational companies -- indeed any company engaging an EAP -- will be proactive in insisting that the WOS or a similar tool be used in holding EAP providers accountable for results and making sure the programs are in actuality improving the health and productivity of their workforce."
