Chicago Projection Mapping Transforms McCormick Place With Large Scale 3D Wall Mapping
Chicago IL (PRWEB) July 01, 2015 -- Chicago-based 3D projection media company Chicago Projection Mapping (CPM) announced today the media release of documentation from their most recent display. Created for national television network TV One, the projection spanned over 180 feet of iconic interior architecture at McCormick Place. The final display came in at over 8K resolution, yielding an incredible visual effect that exceeds any standard broadcast format. Video documentation is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o151ECYTPSs, and groups interested in creating their own mapping experience are encouraged to email Info(at)ChicagoProjectionMapping(dot)com.
When approached by event organizer Hiram Style to create a display for TV One’s reception for INTX 2015, Chicago Projection Mapping sought to create an experience that would not only match the elegant feel of the afternoon reception, but also serve as an impactive and ever-changing canvas for TV One’s branding, superstars, and connection to Chicago. Over the span of several months, CPM devoted extensive resources to developing and animating with these exceptional technical and creative considerations in mind.
The end result was a stunning 180 feet of unified projection, powered by 120,000 lumens of top-tier Panasonic projectors. Even with a tight schedule and a partial daytime setup, Chicago Projection Mapping executed the display with finesse, using proprietary mapping techniques to work though ambient daylight to finalize the map. The complete content arrangement included over 45 minutes of content in excess of 8K resolution, including a full 3D recreation of the Chicago city skyline, artistic vector effects, compelling motion mapping graphics, and six brand spots running simultaneously across 120 window panels. Client and audience response was exceptional.
“This kind of an experience really starts to maximize what you can get out of projection mapping,” said J Matthew Nix, project lead for Chicago Projection Mapping. “When you can transform your decor from a city skyline, to branding, to 3D animations, and back to promotions at the flick of a switch, we think clients will continue to think creatively and push this medium forward.”
This is just the latest in Chicago Projection Mapping’s 2015 push for new innovations in the projection mapping sector, including new installations from CPM’s interactive division, CPM Labs. As projection mapping continues its rise to the top of every corporate event’s wish list, Chicago Projection Mapping stands poised with the experience, skill, and know-how to make any display come to light.
