Chicago’s Annual Survivor in the City Event Salutes Remarkable Women And Benefits Brain Aneurysm Foundation
Hanover, MA (PRWEB) July 16, 2015 -- Please join us for the 6th Annual Survivor in the City, Chicago silent auction and cocktail party benefitting the renowned Brain Aneurysm Foundation on Friday, September 11, 2015.
This year’s Brain Aneurysm Support Group Survivor in the City event will be an inspirational evening of celebration with a special salute to women who have reached out, followed their dreams and inspired others to support brain aneurysm survivors. The 6th Annual Survivor in the City cocktail party will showcase these remarkable women in order to learn from their journeys, lessons learned, and triumphs.
Some honorees include two members of the Chicago media who are brain aneurysm survivors:
• Theresa Guiterrez suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm in 1993. After the rupture she returned to work as a news reporter for ABC 7. Guiterrez is an Emmy Award winning journalist who spent 43 years on the air for Chicago’s top television station, ABC 7. She is one of the handful of broadcast journalists around the country whose career spanned more than four decades at one network. Guiterrez also led the way for women and Hispanics in the broadcasting industry.
• Jennifer Keiper, the Afternoon News Anchor on WLS-AM's (890) Steve Dahl Show suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage on June 3, 2006, and then immediately contracted bacterial meningitis during her stay in the Neuro ICU. After making a full recovery, Keiper has taken advantage of every opportunity that has come her way including becoming a News Director and traveling the world as a network reporter.
The event will take place on Friday evening September 11th from 6:30 to 9:00 at The Union League Club of Chicago located on 65 West Jackson Boulevard in Chicago. Tickets are $50 and include 2 drink tickets as well as hearty appetizers. There will also be a cash bar available. Valet parking is available, if desired. Dress is business casual.

Chicago sports legend and Emmy Award-Winning sports broadcaster Chet Coppock will be in attendance and his book,“Doug Buffone: Monster of the Midway: My 50 Years with the Chicago Bears” will be available for sale during the event. Portions of the proceeds from the book will go toward The Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
