Chicago’s Healy Elementary School and Major Adams Center to Receive Eco-Friendly Makeover from Green Sports Alliance Chicago Service Project Presented by Connor Sports
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) June 19, 2015 -- The Green Sports Alliance(GSA) today announced the GSA 2015 Summit Chicago Green Sports Green Apple Day of Service Projects Presented by Connor Sports with partners’ Chicago Public Schools; Major Adams Community Center; Noah’s Ark Foundation; HOK, Skanska; U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Center for Green Schools & USGBC-Illinois.
Elk Grove Village, IL-based Connor Sports the industry leader in hardwood athletic courts, has entered into a three-year strategic partnership with the GSA. The first event under this new partnership will take place at the Major Adams Center on Saturday June 27, and the 2nd event on Sunday, June 28 at the Robert Healy Elementary School to host eco-friendly gym and playground make-overs. Upgrades made during the Major Adams project will include painting of the gymnasium and refurbishment of the hardwood basketball court by Connor Sports technical staff, and at Healy Elementary school a complete renovation of the playground area to include asphalt repairs, new multi-sport lining, murals, raised bed gardens and other elements to allow for safe play and learning for students.
Connor Sports has also joined hands with the Forest Park (MI) School District near the Connor manufacturing mill located in Amasa in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula on a satellite service project that will run concurrent to the Green Sports Alliance Chicago day of service and provide sustainable improvements to the K-12 school exterior grounds.

The annual Green Sports Alliance Summit June 29-July 1 at McCormick Place in Chicago is the world’s largest and most influential gathering for the sports community to unite around sustainability. The event brings together more than 800 industry stakeholders to learn and share better practices and the latest innovations in greening operations, advancing the supply chain and engaging fans.
