Chicago's Online Asian American Professionals Network Presents Tianyi Joe Zhu
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 02, 2015 -- ANet Chicago, a newly launched online networking and news-sharing platform for Asian American professionals in the Chicago area, prides itself in bridging the gap between Asian Americans and the information they need to prosper. By facilitating like-minded Asian American professionals to connect and create groups, as well as by providing meaningful contents as basis for discussion, the platform recognizes success while providing encouragement to the Chicago Asian professional community.
In the pilot Q&A done by ANet Chicago with Tianyi Joe Zhu, a Chicago-based Asian American entrepreneur, opened up about the advantages and disadvantages of being the only Asian in the room. “It’s an obstacle, absolutely. But I think as any investor or entrepreneur would tell you that where there are obstacles, there’s really true opportunity,” he stated, adding that the flip side is “By being the only Chinese guy in the room, I represent something that other people can’t represent.”
Now the chairman of Jiangsu Full Cell Energy Technologies, founder of MyFitDog, and co-founder at West Suburban Angels, Zhu has clearly turned challenge into opportunity more than once. His love for Chicago helps him balance work and play, because of the networking opportunities that make work feel more like play. “A month ago, I was entertaining the CEO of the largest playground manufacturer in China,” he stated, adding that it just didn’t feel like work. Chicago, where Zhu spends about 50% of his time when he isn’t in China, is home to him. “I have a great network in China, but there’s a difference between business partners and the friends I’ve had here for ten, fifteen years,” Zhu stated.
Speaking of up and coming opportunities for the Asian American Community, Zhu spoke with ANet Chicago about the importance of connection. With migration from Asia creating an even larger population over the past five years, networking remains essential. “A lot of them are not as fluent from a language standpoint; they need to connect with their own people,” he said.
ANet Chicago seeks to do just that. By promoting the success stories of Chicago Asian professionals like Tianyi Joe Zhu, who routinely turns obstacles into opportunities, ANet Chicago strives to drive fellow Chicago Asian Americans forward.
