Child Abuse Survivor Contends with Her Past in ‘Devil Whispers’

The book is a fast-paced mystery following Kat’s battle to regain the father she never had and her desperation to understand why she was never allowed to be part of their lives.
“Many people experienced child abuse as a child and have grown up having to relive these events,” says Armstrong. “Most people assume that since the abuse has stopped and the survivor has escaped from their perpetrators, their pain is over, but it is never over.”
The story begins when, upon the death of his wife, Kat’s father suddenly becomes aware of a small portion of the abuse she endured as a child, or so he proclaims. As the story unfolds, his promises to change and be the father she never had would turn out to be nothing more than a devil’s whisper. As he seeks to win her devotion and forgiveness, Kat seeks the answers that may unravel the reasons for her neglect and abuse.
