Child-Guard™ Launches Educational Website for Child Safety Month
APPLETON, Wis. (PRWEB) November 02, 2016 -- As flexible or pouch packaging becomes more common on store shelves, Presto® Products Company is celebrating Child Safety Month by taking steps to educate the public about the facts, issues, and solutions its Child-Guard™ closures provide in keeping children safe through the Child-Guard.com website.
Child-Guard.com offers parents household safety tips and advice for keeping kids safe. The website also drives consumer awareness about an innovative, child-resistant closure, which Presto® developed under its Slide-Rite® brand.
The Child-Guard™ closure, also branded as Slider-Guard™, provides added protection to reclosable flexible packaging. These child-resistant closures require an “extra step” involving a dissimilar motion, which makes packages more difficult for young children to open.
The site is a one-stop resource center, showcasing the safer closures and their ease of use. The site also features a blog focused on parenting, household safety topics, and products on which the closures are currently available.
The Child-Guard™ closure has the potential to make product packaging safer in a variety of markets, including popular products such as laundry detergent packets, household cleaners, pharmaceuticals, pool chemicals, and lawn and garden.
“We in the packaging industry are aware of the risks certain products pose to young children,” said Brad Hansen, President of Presto® Products Specialty Division. “The question was, ‘How can we respond?’”
Flexible packaging, such as the standup pouch, provides advantages to brands, manufacturers, and consumers alike. As this form of packaging continues to grow, Child-Guard™ will ensure products in need of added layers of safety can take advantage of flexible packaging options.
Hansen points to products using so-called soluble unite doses (SUDs) for delivery as a prime example.
“Consumer product development with dissolvable packets and flexible packaging will undoubtedly continue,” said Hansen. “So how we looked at the issue was, ‘How can we improve the product packaging safety for the consumer?’ The answer was to require more skill to open the flexible package. Our Slide-Rite® Child-Guard™ closure does just that. It is a game-changer for consumer products.”
Tide® Leads the Way With Child-Guard™
In a proactive step, Tide® recently debuted a new ad campaign featuring the Child-Guard™ closure. Tide’s® “Up, Closed, Safe” campaign urges parents of young children to put laundry packets out of reach and to keep the package closed.
Child-Guard™ Testing
Child-Guard’s™ creation was spurred from the desire to protect children from accidental exposures to potentially harmful ingredients. Great lengths were taken to develop a product that is effective, yet also easy for adults to operate.
Child-Guard™ meets industry packaging and federal Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA) standards. The closures are designed to keep children safe from products that could harm them or should only be taken with adult supervision.
Visit Child-Guard.com to find out more and watch an animation on how to operate the closure.
