Children’s Hunger Fund Celebrates Five Years in the Southwest
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) November 13, 2014 -- Children's charity Children’s Hunger Fund recently celebrated the five year anniversary of its Southwest Regional Distribution Center.
With shared, single-minded vision to spread hope and provision to children, families and communities in need, Children’s Hunger Fund has opened three main distribution locations in the past 20 years since conception. With its headquarters in Southern California and another Regional Distribution Center in the Chicago metro area, CHF’s Southwest location works to deliver food and other resources to suffering families.
"We are so thankful to the donors, churches, and corporations that have given sacrificially to bring hope and help to children all around the world by establishing and growing the Southwest office," says Dave Phillips, President and Founder of Children's Hunger Fund.
Last month, Children’s Hunger Fund celebrated five years of full-service in the Southwest region by inviting guests and cherished donors to a special anniversary banquet, where the team was able to reflect on the past and look towards the future.
Since it opened in 2009, the San Antonio Regional Distribution Center has handled and distributed more than 5.5 million pounds of food and aid to communities in the region. Major areas that have been served by the distribution center include San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Sherman, Houston, and Laredo.
The presence of a regional center in the Southwest region has not only allowed Children’s Hunger Fund to extend its efforts to the areas immediately surrounding San Antonio, but the location of the distribution center also streamlines other important relief efforts to other areas in need. The San Antonio office was able to provide food and aid in the aftermath of the major tornados that devastated the town of Moore, Oklahoma in 2013—delivering approximately five truckloads to the communities where it was distributed by a local churches to families in need.
A location in the Southwest has also been valuable to Children’s Hunger Fund’s international efforts. The proximity to a strategic port has served to support a majority of the organization’s work with and to Haiti, Dominican Republic, Honduras, and the African continent.

Overall, the celebration dinner, which took place on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Children’s Hunger Fund distribution center in San Antonio, was filled with joy and encouragement. Led by Richards, the team and banquet guests reflected over the growth in impact, efficiency and reach that the location has brought to the organization's mission of delivering hope in the United States and around the world in the last five years. The event was also reinforced how committed the organization is to the Southwest region and those in need of the hope it seeks to deliver.
