Children’s Hunger Fund Delivers “Project Refugee Hope” to Sudanese Refugees
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- Children’s Hunger Fund Founder and President, Dave Phillips has recently brought together a coalition of churches throughout the U.S. to send two sea containers of food to desperate Sudanese refugees crammed in camps and temporary shelters throughout northern Uganda. Phillips now calls for a second wave of 500,000 meals to be sent and he is looking for support from not only organizations but also individuals for “Project Refugee Hope.”
“We are so thankful that we have now sent two sea containers filled with a half a million meal packets to these refugees, many who are women and children who fled the conflict with only what they were wearing,” says Phillips. “But the need is still great and the conditions have worsened. We have launched ‘Project Refugee Hope’ to send 500,000 more meals to people who are in dire need.”
The meal packets are protein-rich meals especially designed for people suffering from malnutrition and are critical for the tens of thousands of refugees who have fled from South Sudan into neighboring Uganda.
“By God’s grace, we were a part of helping refugees in Uganda a number of years ago and while the politics have changed, the suffering hasn’t. I witnessed a young boy peel the bark from a tree in hope of finding an insect that he could eat. It’s heart wrenching to see this kind of suffering,” says Phillips. “But we can change that and that’s what ‘Project Refugee Hope’ is all about.”
Phillips calls on individuals, groups, businesses and churches to give what they can to send these two sea containers, each filled with 250,000 meals to the refugee camps.
