Children's Medical Nutrition Alliance (CMNuA) Hires Kaycee Childress as Executive Director
ROCKVILLE, Md. (PRWEB) April 28, 2015 -- Children’s Medical Nutrition Alliance (CMNuA), a national nonprofit that advances the cause of medical foods and formulas through education, support and advocacy, has named Kaycee Childress as the organization’s new executive director.
Thousands of children in the United States face severe health consequences because of conditions and diseases that make it impossible to consume a natural, life-sustaining diet. To live and thrive, they are dependent on highly specialized medical foods and formulas.
As executive director of CMNuA, Childress will lead a national coalition of parents, healthcare providers, advocacy groups and corporations that together provide a unified voice to advocate for children who require this lifesaving medical nutrition.
“On behalf of the CMNuA board of directors, I am delighted to welcome Kaycee as our new executive director,” said Board Vice Chair Ivan K. Lanier. “Her wealth of experience, demonstrated leadership and passion for the cause will help CMNuA move forward in achieving its mission to eliminate access barriers to medical nutrition foods and formulas and the resulting economic, emotional and physical toll on American families that these arbitrary barriers cause.”
“It is an incredible honor to join Children’s Medical Nutrition Alliance and put my professional experience and expertise to work on behalf of a cause that is so near and dear to my heart. I know first-hand how vital the work of this organization is in supporting families and advocating on their behalf,” Childress said. “CMNuA is at the forefront of efforts to ensure every child has access to the medical foods and formulas that they need to survive and thrive, and I am excited by the important work ahead.”
For more than a decade Childress served as president and CEO of Calaway and Company, a consulting firm she founded in 1996 and grew to a bicoastal company with more than $1 million in gross revenue. In addition, she has provided fundraising, marketing and membership services to a wide range of corporations and nonprofits ranging from The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (now SHAPE) and US Inc. to senatorial campaigns, McDonalds and FAIR.
Before joining CMNuA, Childress most recently served as director of sales and marketing for the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) where she focused on building and solidifying the organization’s alternative revenue streams.
Childress holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William and Mary.

About Children Medical Nutrition Alliance (CMNuA)
CMNuA, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was developed out of the explicit need for a unified voice to advocate for patients who require medical nutrition to live and thrive. As a national coalition of parents, healthcare providers, advocacy groups and corporations, CMNuA’s mission is to advance the cause of medical foods and formulas (as defined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 21 U.S.C. 360ee (b) (3) 21CFR107) through education, support and advocacy.
By connecting families, healthcare providers, communities and others, CNMuA improves medical foods access by increasing awareness of common food allergies and diseases that routinely require these foods and formulas in their overall medical management. CMNuA also helps eliminate access barriers to these foods and formulas, by being a source of information on medical food matters such as coverage inequalities and the resulting economic impact on American families.
