Childress Engineering Services Lays Foundation for Corporate Responsibility by Helping Build Homes for Wounded Warriors in Texas
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 18, 2013 -- Childress Engineering Services, Inc. is proud to announce the turnover of keys to a deserving wounded veteran of our military forces, the culmination of a two year project headed by “Homes 4 Defenders of Freedom”, a local DFW-based organization devoted to helping wounded military veterans who served honorably in Iraq and Afghanistan. Homes 4 Defenders of Freedom presented the keys to Army Staff Sergeant Curtis Zachary and his family during the presentation on Friday, July 12, 2013.
Working closely with Homes 4 Defenders of Freedom, Childress Engineering has provided no-cost foundation engineering and design services to include foundation inspections, in order to help Homes 4 Defenders of Freedom complete its home for Staff Sergeant Zachary. When asked about the motivation behind these acts of kindness and neighborly hospitality, Alex Childress, head of the Residential Division of Childress Engineering and brother of founder Tony Childress, noted that the company has multiple military veterans on staff, from each branch of the services, and as he’s seen combat first hand, he has a special affection for those veterans in need.
“As a retired Marine who served a combat tour of duty in Iraq, I’ve had friends who didn’t come home, or were wounded. So, for me, every opportunity we get to show our appreciation for what our servicemen and women do in the service of our country, that’s near and dear to my heart,” Alex Childress said.
This is not the first time that Childress Engineering has provided support for inured or wounded veterans. The company has a history of also working closely with other organizations that build specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans. In 2010, Childress Engineering Services collaborated with Homes for Our Troops in donating its services to help build a house in Spring Branch, Texas, for Corporal Joshua Stein, U.S. Army. Childress Engineering Services provided foundation engineering and design services, and donated time with Nick Williams, Childress’ Austin area Manager providing consultative on-site inspections.
“We take every opportunity we have to give back to our Nation’s “wounded warriors” through such worthy organizations as Homes 4 Defenders of Freedom and Homes for Our Troops. It’s one of our driving forces. It’s paramount to us. We take every opportunity to help out,” said Alex Childress. And it doesn’t stop there. According to Alex Childress, Childress Engineering continues to seek out other opportunities and is standing by to provide its services to our severely injured or wounded veterans with such organizations as the Helping Our Heroes Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.
In providing services and expertise, Childress Engineering is literally helping pave the foundation for corporate responsibility, setting the standard for other companies to follow.
