Choice Med Group Offers Free Medical Examination For Florida Veterans With A Qualified Condition
Clearwater, Florida (PRWEB) November 01, 2017 -- On Veteran’s Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017, Choice Med Group will salute the United States Military by offering a free medical certification examination to veterans and active duty soldiers interested in medical cannabis as a treatment option for qualified conditions under Florida law.
On June 23, 2017, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed a bill providing patients with certain debilitating diseases access to medical marijuana. Patients with cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, post-traumatic stress disorder, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or other debilitating conditions are eligible for medical cannabis products ordered by an approved doctor.
“It is important for us to thank and pay respect to the servicemen and women who have given so much for us,” said Dan Johnson, care advocate for Choice Med Group. “For the men and women who have courageously served our nation and suffer from a qualifying condition, we will perform the state required certification examination free of charge on Veteran’s Day at our Clearwater location.”
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a qualifying condition, may develop after a terrifying ordeal involving physical harm or the threat of physical harm. Members of the military exposed to combat are at risk for developing PTSD.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that PTSD afflicts:
- 30 percent of Vietnam veterans
- 12 percent of Gulf War (Desert Storm) veterans
- 11 percent of veterans of the war in Afghanistan
- 20 percent of Iraqi war veterans
Clinical trials and studies have shown medical cannabis to be effective in treating PTSD and other qualifying medical conditions.
Veterans interested in taking advantage of this one day event; will need a previous diagnosis of the qualifying condition, copies of medical records, Florida state issued identification and an appointment scheduled for November 11, 2017.
