Chris Kyle Frog Foundation Grants $300,000 to Nonprofits Serving Military and First Responder Families
Midlothian, Texas (PRWEB) December 31, 2015 -- The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, dedicated to serving military and first responders through meaningful interactive experiences that enrich family relationships, today announced its 2015 Holiday Grant recipients. A total of $300,000 was presented to nine nonprofit organizations around the country that reflect the foundation’s goal of building a community of thriving, resilient military and first responder families.

$100,000 Grant Recipient Camp Southern Ground, http://www.campsouthernground.org, is the passion project of Grammy winning musician Zac Brown. Its mission is to operate a camp to allow children to overcome academic, social and emotional difficulties so they may reach their full potential and provide the tools necessary to achieve excellence in all facets of their lives. The foundation’s partnership with Camp Southern Ground and the Boot Campaign, http://www.bootcampaign.org, brings the joys of summer camp to military families while encouraging all children to embrace patriotism and better appreciate America’s military community.
$50,000 Grant Recipient Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S), http://www.nationalcops.org, was organized in 1984 and today its membership of 30,000 families includes spouses, children, parents, siblings, significant others, and affected co-workers of officers killed in the line of duty. C.O.P.S. has more than 50 chapters nationwide that work with survivors at the grass-roots level to ensure that surviving families are supported in their efforts to build a life after losing a law enforcement family member.
$50,000 Grant Recipient Special Ops Survivors, http://www.specialopssurvivors.org, was founded by Navy SEAL Nick Rocha when he was compelled to do more to support the family of a fallen Navy SEAL. Special Ops Survivors is the only organization exclusively dedicated to serving surviving spouses of active duty Special Operations personnel who have died in combat or training since Jan. 1, 1980. The organization hosts retreats that provide practical skills and workshops designed to empower Special Ops Survivors to continue creating a thriving family life.
$25,000 Grant Recipient Returning Heroes Home, http://www.returningheroeshome.org, provides comfort and support in a healing environment to the nation’s warriors who have been wounded and their families on the long road to recovery. Its Warrior and Family Support Center at Fort Sam Houston provides a place for families of traumatically injured service members to experience care and support from the local community and from other families going through the extended rehabilitation needed to rebuild life outside of treatment.
$25,000 Grant Recipient First Responder Support Network’s, http://www.frsn.org, programs provide first responders and their families with tools to reduce personal and family stress, encourage appropriate career decisions and reduce the effects of traumatic incident stress on the family. The organization provides distinct retreats for first responders and their significant others helping them recognize and cope with work-related stress and critical incidents.
$15,000 Grant Recipient Camp C.O.P.E. (Courage, Optimism, Patience, Encouragement), http://campcope.org, organizes therapeutic camps that provide skills and strategies to help military children cope with the transitions they face in response to the deployment, injury or loss of a family member serving in the U.S. military. Camp C.O.P.E. also provides support for parents affected by the challenges of military service by providing therapeutic workshops that empower parents to support their children at home and in school.
$15,000 Grant Recipient Erik Hite Foundation, http://www.erikhitefoundation.org, founded by Nohemy Hite, the spouse of slain Tucson police officer and Air Force veteran, Erik Hite, provides a child care center and family outreach programs for the children of Law Enforcement and Emergency Services personnel. The Child Development Center provides trustworthy and affordable childcare offered on a flexible schedule with extended hours, meeting the unique childcare challenges that first responder parents face.
$10,000 Grant Recipient United Through Reading, http://www.unitedthroughreading.org, connects military families facing deployment by facilitating the bonding experience of reading aloud together. In 200 locations worldwide, United Through Reading offers deployed military service members the opportunity to be video-recorded reading books to their children at home. Through this signature program, United Through Reading creates a bridge between family and service member that 1) allows the serving family member to participate in parenting despite the distance of deployment and, 2) reduces the stress of reintegration at home.
$10,000 Grant Recipient The Healing Road Foundation, http://www.youthoutdoors.org, provides military veterans and their children, as well as widows of deceased veterans and their children, an opportunity to spend quality time together. Its outdoor events are designed to be very personal and offer the parent and child an opportunity to reconnect, enjoy the outdoors together and begin a new relationship. The foundation also provides all children with a positive learning experience that encompasses conservation, wildlife knowledge and management, firearms safety and responsibility, outdoor skills and respect for nature and each other.
