Chris Kyle Frog Foundation Strengthens Its Team in Service to Military and First Responders
Midlothian, Texas (PRWEB) November 19, 2015 -- The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, dedicated to serving military and first responders through meaningful interactive experiences that enrich family relationships, today announced the addition of new Foundation Ambassador Corie Weathers and Board Member Dr. Barton Buechner.
“We recently celebrated the year anniversary of the foundation and are positioned, through our board, ambassadors, donors and volunteers, to strengthen and expand our programs and services to military and first responder families,” said Taya Kyle, executive director, Chris Kyle Frog Foundation. “Not only have Corie and Bart achieved distinction in their fields but they share our values of loyalty, empowerment, integrity and excellence. Corie Weathers, Military Spouse and Licensed Professional Counselor
Certified in Prolonged Exposure for use in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from the Department of Defense Center for Deployment Psychology, Weathers has worked with military families who struggle with the hidden wounds of war for nearly 15 years
She and her husband Matthew, an Army Chaplain, have provided countless weekend marriage retreats for military couples and relationship retreats for single soldiers. They have devoted their time and efforts to build stronger military marriages and even created a free online marriage study that can be accessed anywhere in the world to help connect military couples during separation.
Weathers recently was awarded the 2015 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year by Military Spouse Magazine and is currently advocating for the mental health needs of military spouses and veterans and is the host of the Lifegiver Military Spouse podcast that provides honest conversation on how military spouses can breathe life into their marriage and home.
Dr. Barton Buechner, Professor of Military Psychology and Retired Navy Captain
Dr. Buechner is a professor of Military Psychology at Adler University, teaching courses in Operational Psychology, research methods, and Morality, Ethics, and Social Justice. He serves as the Michigan State Vice-Chair of the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR); Veterans Knowledge Community representative for the National Association of Student Program Administrators (NASPA) Region IV-East, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Coordinated Management of Meaning (CMM) Institute for Personal and Social Evolution.
Buechner retired from the Navy at the rank of Captain after 30 years of military service that included duty in Surface Warfare, Public Affairs, and Joint Service with the Department of Defense Offices of Inspector General and Reserve Affairs. He is a 1978 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a 1997 graduate of the Naval War College; holds a Master of Science degree in Organization Development from Case Western Reserve University; and, earned his doctorate in Human Development at Fielding Graduate University in 2014. His dissertation research was focused on mentoring of returning veterans in higher education, and addresses the human development, intercultural and communication issues that are part of the transition from military service.
