Christ Presbyterian Church to Host Q Commons (Sept. 24)
Nashville, Tenn. (PRWEB) September 15, 2015 -- Christ Presbyterian Church invites those who live in Nashville/Franklin/Brentwood and are interested in learning and collaborating together to better the community to Q COMMONS SOUTH NASHVILLE on September 24, 7:00–9:00 p.m., in the Sanctuary at CPC. 2015 is the second consecutive year for Christ Presbyterian Church to host Q Commons.
Q Commons is a global event presented by Q, an organization founded by Gabe Lyons with the inspiring words of Chuck Colson, who believed, “Christians are called to redeem entire cultures, not just individuals.” With this philosophy in mind, 10,000 participants in over 80 cities will gather around the globe on September 24, 2015 to learn, collaborate, and discuss cultural change.
This year’s roster of Q COMMONS SOUTH NASHVILLE speakers will include Missy Wallace (Executive Director of the Nashville Institute for Faith & Work), Tom Douglas (award-winning singer/songwriter), and Ronnie Mitchell (Senior Pastor of New Livingstone Church in Nashville).
All three local speakers will address the integration of faith and work from different perspectives:
• Does My Work Really Matter? (Missy Wallace)
• Things I Wish I Had Known As A Young Artist (Tom Douglas)
• Reschooling Culture, Retooling Community – Restoring Hope and Revealing Beauty Through Faith & Work (Ronnie Mitchell)
Global speakers, whose talks will be broadcast to Q Commons gatherings around the globe, include author and social critic Os Guinness, cognitive neuroscientist and communication pathologist Dr. Caroline Leaf, and a current events panel.
“We are excited to host Q Commons for a second year,” says Senior Pastor Scott Sauls. “Public Forums like Q are very important to the life of our church. Forums are events where all people, including those who believe as we do, as well as people who do not, can come together to openly discuss ideas that matter to our culture. We welcome Christians, people of other religious beliefs, agnostics, atheists, skeptics, and those who have left the church to attend Q COMMONS SOUTH NASHVILLE. This will be a very enlightening evening with some of the best minds of Nashville in attendance.”
In addition to Q COMMONS SOUTH NASHVILLE, CPC is hosting several other “public faith” initiatives this fall. On September 27, CPC will host Party on the Lawn, the church’s biggest party of the year. On October 4, CPC will launch a new church location, CPC Intown, at Scarritt Bennett Chapel on the campus of Vanderbilt University. On this same day, 1,000 individuals across Nashville will embark on a six-week Connect Groups series focused on the integration of faith and work.
