ChristenMichel|Glow Skin Care Partners with Kind Campaign
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) February 26, 2014 -- The American Academy of Pediatrics calls cyber bulling the “most common online risk for all teens.” It is a common misconception that boys and teen males are the most dominant types of bullies. It is becoming more apparent than ever that female bullying is just as common as bullying with males.
According to a study by the Pew Research Center, girls are more likely than boys to experience cyber bullying with 38% of online girls report being bullied. In particular, 41% of older girls (15-17) report being bullied- more than any other age or gender group. This trend is alarming especially when it is coupled with non-cyber related bulling.
Some may suggest that being bullied is simply a rite of passage for teenagers and perhaps a way to build character. Unfortunately, research suggests it is just the opposite. Bullying often leads to a breakdown in character for both the bully and the bullied. It can lead to numerous short and life-long problems such as: low self-esteem, depression, academic problems, weight issues, physical ailments, suicide, and more.
Given the apparent limited impact of educational programs on curtailing bullying, a growing group of people are suggesting that kindness is the best antidote to bulling.
Founded by Lauren Paul and Molly Thompson, Kind Campaign is an internationally recognized movement based on the belief that kindness has the power to bring awareness, healing, and end to girl-against-girl bullying.
In February 2009, while attending Pepperdine University, Paul and Thompson recognized the problem of bullying among girls and decided to do something about it. Both affected by female bullying, the two decided to create a documentary and launch Kind Campaign, which has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. The organization continues to spread its message online and throughout schools and communities across the country.
