Christians for Biblical Equality Offers Translations of its Book, Still Side by Side at No Cost
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) September 29, 2015 -- Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE) is pleased to announce that translations of its book, Still Side by Side, are now available for free as digital downloads in CBE’s bookstore.
Still Side by Side, written by Janet George in 2009, is an introduction to evangelical egalitarianism. Using accessible language, it argues that the Bible affirms women and men having equal access to leadership roles in the church and home. It was translated first into Swahili in 2012 and has since been translated into eight more languages: Arabic, Chinese, German, Haitian Creole, Khmer, Nepali, Russian, and Spanish.
“CBE’s funders have recognized the global need for Still Side by Side and have enabled us to translate it into an ever-growing number of languages, and it has consistently been one of our most widely-used and impactful resources,” said CBE’s president, Dr. Mimi Haddad. “It has been distributed at Christian conferences and events all over the world, and serves as a catalyst for life-changing conversations on church leadership, male-female relationships, and abuse.
“Thousands of people have been exposed to the biblical message of gender equality through Still Side by Side, and by offering digital versions for free, we’ve expanded its potential reach and distribution channels. People will no longer need to travel to conferences where print copies are distributed, but can acquire the book over the internet, or share it on CDs or flash drives to anyone with access to a computer,” added Elizabeth Beyer, CBE’s bookstore coordinator.
CBE plans to add more translations in the future, with Amharic, French, and Hindi translations of Still Side by Side expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
