Christians for Biblical Equality to Translate Statement
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) December 19, 2013 -- Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE) has committed to translating their 'Statement on Men, Women, and Biblical Equality' into six new languages in 2014.
The CBE 'Statement on Men, Women, and Biblical Equality' was written in 1989 to outline the biblical rationale for the shared leadership and authority of men and women. The statement stands as one of the core documents around which CBE’s mission is built, and is often offered as an introduction into the mission and ministry of CBE. Since 1989, this seminal document has been translated into 31 different languages.
In reflection of the important place that this statement holds and CBE’s increasingly global mission, CBE continually works to provide new and more accurate translations of this concise tool. For 2014, CBE has committed to translate the 'Statement on Men, Women, and Biblical Equality' into Kirundi, Hebrew, Azerbaijani, Zulu, Afrikaans, Thai, Turkish, Javanese, Cantonese, Italian, Vietnamese, and Bengali.
Mimi Haddad, president of CBE, said, “Having the statement translated is important because it makes the message of biblical equality simple and understandable for people in areas where women are suffering heavy oppression. When people in these areas find out that the statement is being translated into their language, they are excited and praise God because of the life-changing words contained in the document.”
“By increasing the number of translations, holding international conferences, speaking at international conference, adapting curriculum and materials, and forming new international chapters,” said Haddad, “CBE is constantly working to meet the global interest in the ministry and message of CBE.”
In addition to providing new translations of the 'Statement on Men, Women, and Biblical Equality' in 2014, CBE will be providing four new translations of Still Side by Side by Janet George and provide curriculum materials for 50 schools in Kenya.
In its effort to advance a biblical foundation for gift-based rather than gender-based ministry and service, CBE sponsors annual conferences, facilitates local chapters, hosts an online book service, and publishes two award-winning journals.
