Kent based Big Motoring World moves up five places from 15th to 10th in the annual review, just published by Motor Trader. Big Motoring World surged into the top ten of all the independent dealers in the UK thanks to a fantastic years of sales, recording almost a 100% increase in units sold, compared to the previous year.
Not surprisingly, the company founder and chief executive, Peter Waddell, was delighted at their success and their climb up the rankings. He said it was just a reward for all the effort they had put in, in the face of many challenges that remain in the market . “We are delighted to break into the UK’s Top Ten Independent Dealers. Despite the fact that the country is still on a long and painful recovery from one of the worst recessions in UK history, Big Motoring World have managed to deliver some stunning sales figures. The company turned over £57.2 million in 2014, compared to £30.7 million for the previous year, an outstanding increase of nearly 100%. Between March 2013 and February 2014, Big Motoring World sold an estimated 5,750 vehicles.
In their listings, Motor Trader say dealers in the UK collectively sold some 4.28 million used cars in 2013, a rise of 5.1% compared to the new car market which registered 2.26 million cars. Meanwhile, the value of the used car market in the UK reached an all-time high of £42.7 billion for the year, an increase of 4.2%. The total for used car sales went up by 4.2% to 7.4 million units – the highest number since 2006.
Founded by Peter Waddell 20 years ago, Big Motoring World is based outside West Malling on the A20, in Kent. An independent dealer, the company specialises in quality used BMWs and Mercedes, and also sells used Audi, Ford, Mini, Vauxhall, and more. As well as flexible finance packages, they offer full after-care services, including servicing, repairs, and MOTs. Over the years, the company has invested some £20 million in developing the dealership, where they stock more than 1,000 used vehicles at any one time, and employ around 90 staff.
