Chula Vista Charitable Foundation Endowment Swells to $300,000 - 100 Founding Members Milestone Also Achieved
Chula Vista, Calif. (PRWEB) November 29, 2014 -- The Chula Vista Charitable Foundation(CVCF), an affiliate of The San Diego Foundation, today announced 2014 achievements, including record highs for its community endowment fund and membership.
With a current value of $300,000, the CVCF Endowment Fund will support grantmaking and nonprofit organizations serving the Chula Vista community in perpetuity. In November, $100,000 was raised at an event honoring Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox through fundraising and a matching grant from the Stephen and Mary Birch Foundation. Mayor Cox is a dedicated champion of CVCF, and led establishment of the affiliate with The San Diego Foundation.
To date, more than 111 founding members have joined CVCF, a significant milestone for the affiliate with an ongoing mission to improve the quality of life in Chula Vista by promoting and increasing responsible and effective philanthropy.
CVCF members commit to contribute dues of at least $1,000 per year for five years to the affiliate. Fifty percent of dues go into the endowment fund which supports the needs of the Chula Vista community for years to come. The other 50 percent of dues are pooled for annual grantmaking to Chula Vista nonprofit organizations.

Since 2011, CVCF has granted more than $100,000 to eight nonprofit organizations serving Chula Vista. Each year’s grant cycle has a different focus ranging from health and human services, to community engagement and the environment.
“The Chula Vista Charitable Foundation allowed I Love A Clean San Diego to offer meaningful volunteer opportunities for Chula Vista residents of all ages to give back to their community,” I Love A Clean San Diego Executive Director Pauline Martinson explained. “Foundation funds gave I Love A Clean San Diego the opportunity to expand our Adopt-A-Canyon program into Chula Vista to provide safe and clean places for youth and families to discover and enjoy.”
