Church of Scientology Berlin Promotes Drug-Free Living
Berlin, Germany (PRWEB) July 22, 2013 -- Volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Berlin promoted drug-free living June 26, lending their voices to drug prevention activists around the world on United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The United Nations General Assembly established this day in 1987 to raise awareness about the global drug problem and to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.
In the belief that the most effective weapon against combating drugs and drug abuse is education, Scientologists took this message to a Berlin neighborhood notorious for drug-related crime. They distributed copies of Truth About Drugs booklets to residents, and shopkeepers were eager to display sets of these booklets, making them available to customers.
While Berlin Scientologists were taking a stand against drug abuse in their city, hundreds of volunteers from Scientology Churches and Missions around the world held conferences, sports events, pledge drives and other activities to bring the message of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to their communities.
For more than two and a half decades, Scientologists on five continents have been empowering others with the truth about drugs.

Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “The planet has hit a barrier which prevents any widespread social progress—drugs and other biochemical substances. These can put people into a condition which not only prohibits and destroys physical health but which can prevent any stable advancement in mental or spiritual well-being.”
The Church of Scientology supports the Truth About Drugs, one of the world’s largest nongovernmental drug education and prevention campaigns. It has been conclusively proven that when young people are provided with the truth about drugs—factual information on what drugs are and what they do—usage rates drop commensurately.
