Cigar Advisor Publishes Addition to Cigars 101 Series on Cigar Aroma
Easton, PA (PRWEB) November 22, 2013 -- The all-new Cigar Advisor Magazine is an online cigar magazine that brings a fresh, irreverent, and down-to-earth perspective on all things cigars to thousands of smokers. In addition to educational cigar content and behind-the-scenes cigar industry articles from some of the business’s top names, Cigar Advisor delivers an array of content about a variety of topics of interest to people who enjoy the cigar lifestyle. The magazine also features cigar reviews and ratings submitted by real smokers. Cigar Advisor Magazine has published a new article in its Cigars 101 section, entitled “Why Aroma Matters." CigarAdvisor Executive Editor Gary Korb takes a look at aroma and the important role it plays in the enjoyment of premium handmade cigars by asking the question: “Why does it seem like more attention is paid to a cigar's flavor than the aroma?”
“Like flavor, aroma is objective,” writes Korb. “What matters is that YOU enjoy it. Plus, I've never seen a cigar smoker put down their cigar due to criticism of its aroma unless it was REALLY god-awful. If a cigar smells funky but tastes great, odds are, it ain't goin' out, pal.”
Korb also notes that a cigar's aroma is often attributed to its wrapper. For example, certain wrapper leaves are intentionally used for their unique aromatic properties. U.S. Connecticut Shade tends to smell sweet, while Brazilian Oscuro may have a much heartier bouquet. Moreover, the filler and/or binder leaves can also help determine how good (or bad) a cigar smells. “The best blenders will seek the ideal mix of all the tobaccos they use in their blends to produce a great flavor and a redolent aroma,” adds Korb.
Though the heart of the article is aimed at "traditional" cigars, Korb also touches on ACID cigars, a brand in which the leaves are specifically imbued with herbals and botanicals to produce a very unique and robust aroma.
The real question may be, if cigar smokers had to choose, would they take flavor over aroma? Odds are, taste takes precedence, yet, “what you smell is tied to what you taste.”
